Brockton legislative delegation announces hearing for home-rule petition banning power plant in city

State Representatives Christine Canavan, Geraldine Creedon and Michael Brady, along with State Senator Thomas Kennedy, announced that H.4241 , An Act authorizing the city of Brockton to prevent the siting of a power plant in Brockton, will be heard before the legislature’s Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government during the committee’s next hearing, at 10:30am, Tuesday February 9, 2010 in Hearing Room B-2 at the State House.
The hearing is open to the public, and the Brockton delegation encourages local residents, as well as city and town officials, to join them in delivering testimony in favor of the legislation that would prevent the construction of the proposed power plant within the city.
Those who wish to testify but are unable to make next week’s hearing can send along testimony to the chairs of the committee in advance, or following, the hearing. All testimony should be addressed to:
